Dives Way off Key West

Cosgrove Shoal

This area should be easy to spot once you get within range, since there's a 50-foot light house on it. It's six miles from the Marquesas Keys, in the southward direction. It's a very rocky bank, which is why there's a big warning lighthouse there, fo course, and it is several miles long. The reef is dead here, but there remain fossilized caves and crevices for you to explore. Look for black coral. Very strong outgoing current, and some depths are too great to conquer at Cosgrove Shoal, so know the area and plan your dive well.
